The root chakra, which is referred to as “Muladhara” in Sanskrit, holds significant importance in Hindu and yogic traditions as it is considered the first of the seven primary chakras in the body. Located at the perineum, this chakra opens downwards towards the earth, creating a vital connection between the body and the physical environment. It is closely linked to feelings of security, mental stability, courage, and survival. One of its essential roles is to ground us in the world, facilitating the flow of energy from the earth through the minor chakras located on the soles of the feet.
