Spoiled

We are spoiled. Not in the way of having too much (though we do) but in how food spoils. We are a rotten, unappetizing bunch.

So far removed from the natural order of things, concrete, and steel have separated us from the bone and blood of life.

We have lost touch with the earth, the ground, the soil, and ourselves. We no longer understand our place in the vastness of this technological age.

I watch birds flock outside my window. Silently.

I hear the mechanicals of the HVAC, the creak of chairs, the clatter of keyboards.

I yearn for the quiet of the forest, the hush of the field where silence is the quieting of human activity, to hear the sounds of the earth in all her varied voices.

A gentle welcome.
